Meet Al Borowski

​He believes that if we can get kids interested in reading, reciting, understanding, appreciating, and then writing poems, all of the writing they do in school and in life will become dramatically better.

Think about this.

What is poetry all about?

Rhythm, Rhyme, Stories, Ideas, Feelings, Visions, News, Fun, Interests, Information, and Figures of Speech

That’s what all good writing is about. (Except the Rhyming part)

Al has been writing poems and playing the drums since he was in fourth grade.

So, when he became an English teacher, he naturally blended rhythm and rhyme, grammar and punctuation, and literature and story telling to teach kids that writing can be fun.

Al proves this by having kids (and their parents) recite the words to their favorite songs.

That’s poetry. That’s good writing.

After discussing poems and songs that rhyme, he introduces examples of poems that don’t rhyme.
